War with the Indians:
Following the Civil War, the United States went through a period of unrest pertaining to the Native American Population. Americans were pouring into the west either trying to start a new life with new opportunity or to strike it rich by mining gold. There was just one problem, most of the land was occupied by Native Americans and had been for hundreds of years. The US tried signing treaties with the Indians like the Treaty of Ft. Laramie, that would promise the Native Americans land that's reserved for them that they could live on. But the promises behind these treaties were never actually kept to the 100% the government gave the Indians. Food was not always delivered and a lot of the time the Indians would be forced out of their reserved areas once more. All these complications created a very heated relationship between the United States government and the Native Tribes which would eventually lead to senseless Violence and death on both sides.
