1931-1960
Introduction:
In 1931 America was in the midst of the Great depression which lasted until 1939 which was the year World War Two began. While America was struggling with the crashing of the stock market, Germany was being uplifted from their hardships that were given because of the Treaty of Versailles. Adolf Hitler rose to power during this time and it was easy for him because the people of Germany were desperate for a leader to look up to and that would help them with their troubles. Germany invaded Poland in 1939 and kept invading other countries in attempt to achieve world power. America wasn't brought into the war until December 7th, 1941 when the naval base Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The president at the time was president Franklin D. Roosevelt. The attack on Pearl Harbor led to The united states declaring war on Japan, Italy and Germany. Like in World War One, The U.S joined the war late while Europe had been at war since 1939 and we acted as a fresh source of powerful and energized soldiers against the Axis powers. World War Two ended in 1945 with the Allied Powers winning and America dropping two nuclear bombs against the very persistent Japanese. Russia had created their communist government, The Soviet Union, during the Bolshevik revolution and was one of the worlds super powers alongside the United States and with this created the Arms race and the Space race which caused severe tension between the two countries and led to the terrifying Cold War.
